We had about an hour and a half drive this morning to
Munising, MI which is where we will get the boat for our tour of Pictured
Rocks. It is amazing that they run these
cruises every hour all day with 3 boats running at the same time. They are all sold out and people waiting for
the next one. Hard to believe that many
people know about this place and drive here to see them. It was so worth the $37/each we spent to see
them. It also was the perfect day to see
it…cool but sunny. While we were driving around Munising before we found the dock, we found this basket and couldn't resist the photo.
It is difficult to
explain who beautiful these rocks and cliffs are. The colors of course come from the different
mineral deposits but give them such beautiful colors. You just can’t seem to stop yourself from
taking pictures. The rock formations are
interesting as well. They had a book
they were selling that had professional photos of all of the rocks and I told
Debbie it would be nice to have it but I didn’t want to pay $15 for one. They announced that two people on our cruise
would win a book and we should check the TV in the office when we returned to
the dock. We did and I won it! Yay!
We got back on the road (this road is so horrible to drive with nothing
to see) and decided to stop on our way to Sault St. Marie and get a “pastie”
which seems to be the thing here. We saw
a place just as we were heading out of town and stopped to get one. The way I read about them, I thought they
were like empanadas so we each ordered one to go. Well it turns out they are more like calzones
filled with meat, potatoes and veggies.
We ate one on our way and are saving the other for another time. Kind of bland and definitely needed salt and
Debbie said some hot sauce too. We
arrived at the Kewadin Resort and Casino and checked in. We got the room key and parked. Loaded all our stuff on a luggage cart and
went in. We were looking for the
elevator when we found an employee who told us there wasn’t one…really? So we take everything back to the car and put
it back and just take our luggage.
Dragging it to the second floor was a real trip…what did people do
before elevators? We had dinner at a
restaurant in the casino and then played card again. We had a good time a played with a couple
from Canada…he was a border agent and had some interesting stories to
tell. This is the first trip in years
that Debbie and I have been able to play and the same table and have fun and
one of us not lose. Again, we had a fun
night. The resort is fairly new. Our room was just in the old section but it
was neat and clean. Another day down.
